A Clinical Analysis of Laser Laparoscopic Colecystectomy

Abstract
The laparoscopy has been a standard procedure for the gynecologist for many years, General surgeons has had limited experience with the procedure, but considerable enthusiansm for it has developed recently because of the increasing intest in
laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
As a result, laparoscopy will likely became a common procedure for most general surgeons, and laser laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LIC) will become a common operation.
This technique offers a number of advantage over the standard open approach. Both hospital stay and postoperative recovery period are greatly reduced. The majority of patients are able to return to full activity within three to five days. In
addition,
patient discomfort and cosmetic disfigurement are dramatically reduced following LLC.
A total of 50 patients with LLC was clinically reviewed, who were admitted to Department of General surgery, Yong San Hospital, Chung-Ang University from September 1990 to February 1991.
@ES This result was as follows;
@EN 1) The most prevalent age group was 4th to 5th decades(84%) and the mean age was 41 years old.
2) From the period of the onset of symptoms to coming to our hospital, the majority of 52% of admitted patients came in a month's length of time.
3) The average operative time was 55 minutes.
4) The majority of removed stones by LLC less than 2 cm sized(86%), and number of stones was less than 2(44%).
5) Among the 50 patients, four complications in 2 patients were noted; bile leakage from liver bed, atelectasis, subcapsular hematoma and hypothermic schivering. But there were not changed to open laparotomy.
6) The start postoperative oral intake were 1th day(80%), 2th day(16%), and 4th day(4%).
7) The most predominent type in pathological classification was chronic cholecystitis(88%) and next common type was metaplastic polyps(8%).
8) The chief advantage of LLC included a short hospital stay and early return to work. The mean length of hospital stay was 5.9 days.
